Nobody ever accused House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (Marxist-NY) of being smart. But today he outdid himself.
Nadler sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr confirming the head law enforcement officer’s appearance before his committee on March 31st.
Nadler has all the self-awareness of a three-toed sloth. As defense attorneys like to say… you opened the door:
- The ongoing developments following the removal of U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu, who oversaw the prosecutions of President Trump’s deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates, President Trump’s former national security advisor Michael Flynn, and President Trump’s longtime political adviser Roger Stone.
- The creation of a new “process” by which President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani can feed the Department of Justice information, through you, about the President’s political rivals.
- The decision to overrule your career prosecutors and significantly reduce the recommended sentence for Roger Stone, who has been convicted for lying under oath, at the apparent request of the President — a decision that led to all four prosecutors handling the case to withdraw from the proceedings in protest.
Where to start?
It was President Trump who announced it was his decision to rescind the nomination of Jessie Liu almost immediately following this segment from Lou Dobbs:
Senate Intelligence Committee Security Director James Wolfe leaked the FISA application used against Carter Page – classified as top secret – and then lied multiple times to federal investigators.
That would be a FISA application based on the unverified Steele “dossier.”
Liu, as the presiding judge, dropped all charges related to the leak of top secret information and only charged Wolfe with one count of lying to FBI investigators. Wolfe was given a 60 day sentence.
After Dobbs finished laying out a damning case against Liu, he was joined by Devin Nunes for this stunning announcement:
“I am hearing now that the president has actually pulled her (Liu’s) nomination.”
It appears Nunes learned of President Trump’s decision while in the Green Room. Thanks, Lou Dobbs!
Liu conveniently ignored anything that might undermine the Dems’ falsely constructed Russia collusion hoax while protecting the Awan brothers (espionage), Obama lawyer Greg Craig (FARA violations that Manafort is in prison for), along with Wolfe.
Roger Stone broke no law but was found guilty of lying to federal investigators after being led into a perjury trap. Those federal prosecutors recommended a sentence of 97-108 months. Nine years in federal prison!
This should be hoot listening to Nadler get his ass handed to him when Barr discusses the issue of proportionality of sentencing.
As to the creation of a “new process,” described by Barr as an “intake process” for Giuliani’s evidence, Nadler opened another door.
How the eff will Nadler counter Barr pointing to Christopher Steele as the trigger for the Russia hoax?
In announcing the “intake process” on Monday, Barr was careful to explain why the process was put in place…
“The DOJ has the obligation to have an open door to anybody who wishes to provide us information that they think is relevant.
“But as I did say to Senator Graham, we have to be very careful with respect to any information coming from Ukraine.
“There are a lot of agendas in Ukraine and crosscurrents.
“We can’t take anything we receive from Ukraine at face value.
“For that reason we have established an intake process in the field so that any information coming in about Ukraine could be carefully scrutinized by the department and its intelligence community partners so we could assess its provenance and its credibility.”
We all remember the intake process the Obama/Lynch DOJ had for Steele and Fusion GPS. There wasn’t one unless Assistant AG Bruce Ohr’s surreptitious phone conversations and clandestine meetings count… they don’t.
Only a legal neophyte could believe that Nadler’s committee won’t be walking themselves into a trap of their own creation.
Not to sound like a late-night infomercial but wait, there’s more!
What else is scheduled to be announced by March 31st? U.S. Attorney John Durham’s findings, at least a good deal of the evidence against Obama’s intelligence community, should become public by then.
You can’t make this Schiff up.
