Elder Patriot – In a move that has garnered little attention in the mainstream media President Trump is preparing to nominate Washington antitrust attorney Joseph Simons as the next chairman of the Federal Trade Commission.
Simons previously served as the head of the FTC’s competition bureau, which investigates mergers and anticompetitive conduct, from 2001 to 2003. While there he established a reputation as somewhat of a trustbuster in two separate cases when he convinced the FTC to block Libbey Inc.’s plan to buy glassware rival Anchor Hocking from Newell Rubbermaid and he made the argument against the combination of pickle makers Vlasic Foods International and Claussen Pickle.
What does this have to with Google-Facebook-Twitter-YouTube? For the sake of preventing a globalist controlled news monopoly, hopefully a lot.
President Trump has been consistent in his use of social media despite being bombarded with admonitions that presidents just shouldn’t do that since the beginning of his presidential campaign.
Trump has continually acknowledged that he would not be president nor would his presidency be as successful as it has been if he didn’t talk directly to the people.
He is also acutely aware of just how important web news and opinion publishers, like the one you’re now reading, has been to moving the public debate in his favor.
This is born out by polls that show landslide support for his policies. The old guard mainstream media has only been successful in painting the president as a hate-filled sexist, racist etc., is because of its dominance in reaching ignorant, less inquisitive people who get their news by accident while flipping the channels or glancing headlines while passing newsstands.
Rather than accept the resounding results of the last election Washington’s globalist establishmentarians moved to subvert the democratic process by blocking the very policies that propelled Trump to the presidency. To accomplish this they have instituted a program of harassment and censorship over publishers that do not adhere to anti-trump dogma.
To regain their dominance over the will of the American people the globalist ruling cabal is intent on reclaiming complete dominance over the public discourse by instituting a complete blackout over the expression of opposing viewpoints on social media.
Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google has said that in the future Google will decide what is true and what isn’t true when determining how search-engine rankings are configured.
Considering that 94% of Google’s users never go beyond the first page of their search results this amounts to an easily achievable broad level of censorship.
Twitter has already banned conservatives from its platform including Marsha Blackburn who is running for the U.S. Senate, as well as anyone who defends a tweet sent by the president.
YouTube has been demonetizing, and even removing, videos supportive of President Trump or critical of leftwing extremism and globalism.
Yesterday Facebook announced a pilot program to silence publishers (like the one you’re visiting right now) by removing posts from Pages in the original news feed and moving them to another feed unless those publishers pay a fee.
For those of us who have already paid Facebook hundreds of thousand of dollars to help us build our fan base this also represents a breach of contract.
Trump has been girding himself for this war for over a year.
In July of 2016 he was asked, “How will you, as president, tackle this protected class of media elites without stepping on the first amendment rights of average Americans?”
His answer shows he is acutely aware of the threat the social media titans pose to an informed free public discourse, “I have been very concerned about media bias and the total dishonesty of the press. I think new media is a great way to get out the truth.”
This brings us back to his choice of Simons to chair the FTC. Simons realizes that the most important competition to protect is that of free and open debate.
Trump’s elevation of Joe Simons to lead the coming war to save free speech in America and to restore some modicum of balance to the marketplace of ideas is the president’s first volley across the bow of the social media titans who seek to control our world through censorship and misinformation.
With the recent moves approaching censorship of conservative principles made by Google-Facebook-Twitter-YouTube, Simons mission is clear.
