Yesterday we highlighted the deposition of Obama’s former Deputy Asst. Secretary of Defense Evelyn Farkas under questioning by former congressman Trey Gowdy.
Gowdy is a skilled prosecutor who racked up political points for his interrogation of Hillary Clinton (Benghazi) though he never went for the kill shot.
With his seemingly hard-edged style Gowdy became the darling of conservatives starved for a champion. He constantly delivered the headlines… but, never delivered the kill shot.
All hat and no cattle.
Gowdy delivered more of the same when he had a chance to expose the sordid Obama surveillance of the Trump campaign prior in 2017. If only he pressed the questioning of Farkas harder.
That very well might have resulted in Republicans maintaining control of the House in the 2018 midterms and saved the country from impeachment… and maybe, from the coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China.
Gowdy: “Why don’t we go back to that sentence that I just asked you about. It says ‘the Trump folks, if they found out how we knew what we knew about their staff dealing with Russians. Well, how would you know what the U.S. government knew at that point? You didn’t work for it, did you?”
Farkas: “I didn’t.” Farkas had been a mid-level Russia analyst who, we’re told, left the federal government in 2015.
Gowdy: “Then how did you know?”
Farkas: “I didn’t know anything.”
Gowdy: “Did you have information connecting the Trump campaign to the hack of the DNC?”
Gowdy:“So when you say, ‘We knew,’ the reality is you knew nothing.”
Gowdy: “So when you say ‘knew,’ what you really meant was felt?”
Gowdy:“You didn’t know anything?”
Farkas: “That’s correct.”
Her original statement…
“The Trump folks, if they found out how we knew what we knew about their staff … the Trump staff dealing with Russians…
… and a later one…
“We do have a strong system of checks and balances. And actually, if Donald Trump were elected, I believe he’d be impeached pretty quickly or somebody else would have to take over government, and I’m not even joking.”
… suggested a level of knowledge and involvement that demanded further discovery. Instead, Gowdy basically closed that line of questions with “you didn’t know anything?”
What about the possibility (likelihood) that Farkas had left the government in 2015 to work on the secret surveillance of Donald Trump and his campaign? Would that have been worth a throwaway question?
Could Manchurian President Barack Obama or his chosen successor Hillary Clinton have been behind such a covert operation? Think of all we now know before answering.
Think of all that Gowdy, with access to all of the intelligence surrounding the illegal surveillance that was known to be going on back then, knew.
Our concerns about Gowdy’s allegiance were echoed by Florida congressman Matt Gaetz during a visit with Hannity last night.
Gaetz: “… why was it then, in May of 2018, that Trey Gowdy went on Martha Maccallum’s show and said that the FBI did exactly what all of our fellow Americans would have wanted them to do…”
Gowdy knew that the FBI had nothing but the phony Steele Dossier with which to proceed on by January 2017… before Donald Trump was even sworn in…
“The number one question I get asked from Americans is why no one has gone to jail and been held accountable?
“Unfortunately, when [Devin] Nunez and [Mark] Meadows and [Jim] Jordan and I wanted subpoena power it was Paul Ryan and Trey Gowdy that wouldn’t give us that subpoena power…”
Both Paul Ryan and Trey Gowdy, along with a host of others, retired in 2018.
All hat and no cattle.
Think about it… if these politicians really loved their country they wouldn’t have turned tail and ran when they had a chance to restore integrity to our government.
Corrupt is as corrupt does…
Why did Trey Gowdy go on TV in May 2018 and say the FBI did what our fellow Americans would have wanted them to do? And that it had nothing to do with @realDonaldTrump?
