Spokesman Blows Lid off Russia-Trump Narrative

ELDER PATRIOT – Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov appeared with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday and blew the lid off the false narrative that Trump was colluding with Russia because there had been contact between Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Peskov made it clear that contact between the campaigns of candidates and foreign governments is not only commonplace but also necessary.

“Well, if you look at some people connected with Hillary Clinton during her campaign, you would probably see that he had lots of meetings of that kind.  There are lots of specialists in politology, people working in think tanks advising Hillary or advising people working for Hillary,” Peskov responded when Zakaria suggested something improper had occurred between Team Trump and Russia.

Peskov noted that it’s every ambassador’s job to discuss “bilateral relations” with every foreign policy maker or potential foreign policy maker, and that it’s ridiculous to believe anything nefarious took place without evidence.  And, as Director of National Intelligence James Clapper made clear last week, “there wasn’t evidence of collusion between Russia and Trump earlier this year.”

Then the Putin spokesman made it abundantly clear that Clinton had a very clear strategy of demonizing both Trump and Russia and that the allegations of collusion between the two was deliberately invented to save her failing political campaign:

“The candidate Hillary Clinton was quite negative about our country in her attitude and in her program, declaring Russia being nearly the main evil in the world and the main threat for the United States.  And to the contrary, the other candidate, Donald Trump, was saying that, ‘Yes, we disagree with the Russians … in lots of issues, but we have to talk to them in order to try to find some understanding.’”

It was pointed out that Ambassador Sergey Kislyak also visited Obama at the White House at least 22 times in the interest of finding common ground.  Obama even arranged for then Senate Armed Services Chairman Jeff Sessions to meet with Kislyak, ostensibly for the same reason.

So as Congress investigates Trump’s non-existent business dealings with Moscow it should be interesting to see how they sidestep the massive evidence of Hillary’s “business” dealings with the Russian government while she was Secretary of State.

Don’t hold your breath because they’ve looked the other way any number of times to avoid charging Hillary with criminal charges, but it would be nice if someone in Congress finally holds Hillary Clinton accountable for the $135 million in Russian money that made its way into the Clinton Foundation prior to her approving the sale of 20% of our weapons grade uranium to the “evil empire.”

Avoiding implicating Hillary and Obama during these Congressional investigations will be a real tightrope walk for Trump-haters like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Paul Ryan, Maxine Waters and the rest.
