Did Self-Described ‘Ukrainian Expert’ Alexander Vindman Misremember Facts During Closed Door Impeachment Inquiry to Prejudice Case Against Trump?

Adam Schiff’s star witness, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman represented himself as an expert, if not the expert, on Ukraine during his closed-door testimony before Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) sham impeachment committee.

Vindman never wears his uniform to work. The fact that he wore it for his appearance before Schiff’s lynch mob was likely part of Chairman Schiff’s carefully choreographed drama to lend credibility to a politically-motivated hack.

Vindman’s testimony served to underscore the political nature of his appearance.

A look at the transcript of Vindman’s testimony reveals this deliberately foggy response by the Lt. Col. to a question from Chairman Schiff.

“I apologize if the timing is incorrect.”

The important fact that Vindman got wrong (deliberately?) is that former President Obama never provided Javelins or any other lethal aid to Ukraine.  The first shipment of Javelins to Ukraine was sent by the Trump administration.

That was confirmed by the testimony of Catherine Croft, a State Department official specializing in Ukraine who told the committee that first shipment to Ukraine was sent “towards the end of March of 2018.”

Obama hadn’t been president since January of 2017, more than a year before.

Little wonder then why Adam Schiff shut down Republicans from asking Vindman questions.

For a Lt. Col., who was born in Ukraine and whose loyalty to his native country led him to become an expert in the region’s geo-politics, the lack of lethal aid provided by the Obama administration isn’t something that would be easily forgettable.

(NY Post) … In 2014, after Russia annexed Crimea and began arming separatists in eastern Ukraine with tanks, armored vehicles and rocket launchers, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko came to Washington to plead for weapons to defend his country. In an impassioned address to a joint session of Congress — with Biden sitting directly behind him — Poroshenko said his country appreciated the nonlethal assistance he was getting, but declared “one cannot win a war with blankets.”

The Obama-Biden administration was unmoved. The Wall Street Journal reported at the time that “President Barack Obama stuck to his refusal to provide weapons or other lethal military gear to Ukraine.” Why? …

In May 2018, after Ukraine tested its new Javelin missiles, Poroshenko exulted on Twitter “Finally this day has come!” and personally thanked Trump “for supporting Ukraine and adopting a decision to provide Javelin anti-tank missile systems.”

It’s a virtual certainty that Vindman had given himself an out for deliberately tainting his testimony.

For having substituted his own political prejudices against the president’s stated foreign policy, and then having lied to advance his argument, Vindman should be immediately rotated out of the National Security Council, if not worse.

President Trump was clear about his foreign policy intentions as well as his intentions to root out corruption (Drain the Swamp) during his campaign.  The American people elected him based on those promises.  They did not vote for Alexander Vindman.
