Republicans Announce What We Should Expect Next : Here Comes the Pain

Elder Patriot – Kim Strassel wrote an Op-ed that appeared in the Wall Street Journal yesterday under this headline and banner:

Mueller Is Done. Now Probe the Real Scandal

Americans deserve a full accounting of the missteps of Comey and the FBI.

Strassel calls for another investigation, one for those who turned our intelligence agencies and Justice Department against an American citizen:

“The FBI unleashed its powers on a candidate for the office of the U.S. presidency, an astonishing first. It did so on the incredible grounds that the campaign had conspired to aid a foreign government. And it used the most aggressive tools in its arsenal”

According to the conclusions reached by the Mueller Report, the FBI didn’t have a highly convincing reason to act.  In fact, the lack of evidence found in The Mueller Report is a judgment that there never was any real evidence.

Republican House member Andy Biggs penned an opinion piece for Fox News yesterday:

Now that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has been completed, it is time to seek justice. That means fired FBI Director James Comey and others responsible for instigating this farcical investigation for the sole purpose of undermining President Trump must be prosecuted.

Failure to prosecute those within our law enforcement apparatus who abused their power for political purposes by launching a baseless investigation that has torn our country apart will only perpetuate the growing cynicism in our institutions and the seemingly unbridgeable division in America.

Everyone in both Houses knew this last year – Devin Nunes and House Republicans told them so – but the media ignored him (and everyone else who supported President Trump):

For anyone who still thinks this was a legitimate investigation and not a political witch-hunt, Adam Schiff, as a member of the Gang of Eight and the House Intelligence Committee (that Nunes chairs), and still insisting on more investigations,  knew everything that Devin Nunes has known all along.

So did Chuck Schumer, Mark Warner, and Nancy Pelosi.  They’re all calling for further investigations. GOPe (establishment) types, Mitch McConnell, Richard Burr, and the departed Paul Ryan, aren’t much better having remained silent while their president was being savaged.

The significant, previously unthinkable, shocking realization that Obama’s Justice Department had been turned into a political operation targeting a political opponent cannot be dismissed.  The fact that the GOPe did nothing is equally disturbing.

When questioned by the press while preparing to leave Mar-a-Lago, President Trump charged that “this was an illegal takedown.”

The Washington Examiner understood the threat to our freedoms that this, if left unpunished, would engender.

Devin Nunes said those involved can expect to be held accountable.

This morning, one of President Trump’s lawyers, Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News Channel where he issued a cryptic warning:

Speaking with “Fox & Friends” after the report turned in no evidence of a Trump-Russia conspiracy, Giuliani was asked whether someone tricked the FBI into opening the original investigation.

“Yes, yes, yes — and you’re going to find out, believe me, who it was.”

“Now the question is if there were three investigations — no evidence of collusion — who made it up?  It didn’t just come out of thin air. I want to know who did it. Who paid for it? Who fueled it? Because the person that did it, and the group that did it, knows it’s untrue because they invented it.”

“Just pay attention.”

Rudy’s old running buddy and his former police commissioner, Bernie Kerik, predicted this last night when he tweeted:.
