President Trump has kept so many promises during the first three+ years of his administration that it’s hard to imagine what policies he will propose to advance his reelection bid.
On Saturday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the United States and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Taliban) have signed a peace agreement to end the nineteen-year war in Afghanistan.
Left #Qatar knowing that the world is a safer place, with solid progress towards a political settlement that will end the war in #Afghanistan. Thank you to Qatar and our allies and partners for their support of peace in Afghanistan. pic.twitter.com/j6C9B6DxDT

This fulfills another campaign promise made by then-candidate Donald Trump.
The commitment in Afghanistan was the perfect excuse for the military-industrial complex to continue draining the American treasury of your tax dollars because it was known when entering into this engagement that it was unwinnable.
History told us that but politicians appealed to our native arrogance of Americans that for us anything is possible.
And so, thousands of American and coalition troops, as well as tens of thousands of Afghans, continued dying there while the dollars flowed to politically connected defense contractors.
Yesterday, President Trump finally put an end to this futility.
Here are the comments of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo following the signing ceremony of the Afghan peace agreement:
SOS Pompeo: The United States and the Taliban have endured decades of hostility and mistrust. Previous talks have faltered. This effort only became real for the United States when the Taliban signaled interest in pursuing peace and ending their relationship with al-Qaida and other foreign terrorist groups. They also recognized that military victory was impossible. I then asked Ambassador Khalilzad to serve as our lead negotiator to gauge the Taliban’s sincerity.
The agreement that we will sign today is the true test of this effort. We will closely watch the Taliban’s compliance with their commitments and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal to their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists…
…This agreement will mean nothing, and today’s good feelings will not last, if we don’t take concrete actions on commitments and promises that have been made. When it comes down to it, the future of Afghanistan is for Afghans to determine. The U.S.-Taliban deal creates the conditions for Afghans to do just that.
Cue the anti-war left who until today were… well… anti-war:
BREAKING: The US and Taliban have signed a historic peace deal, in which the US has agreed to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan within 14 months.

“Siding with terrorists.”
Sorry… siding with our young American patriots so that they can live full lives with all of their limbs.
“And as soon as you pull troops out the Taliban will go straight back to their old ways. You can’t trust them ine bit, you watch”
So what? It’s not our fight. It was never our fight.
“The USA sign surrender agreement.”
Aren’t you the same guys who were lamenting the needless loss of life on both sides for the past 19 years?
Trump Derangement Syndrome is real…
