Elder Patriot – Former acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thomas Homan is a git-r-done commander.
On January 30, 2017, President Donald Trump demoted acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Daniel Ragsdale to deputy director, and appointed Homan as acting director.
By May 2017, Homan announced a 38% increase in arrests from the same period the year before. In June of 2018 he retired, likely sick of the never-ending bullshit coming from those above him.
Less than two weeks ago President Trump, likely sharing Homan’s disgust with the worsening state of the border crisis, identified Homan as his choice for his newly created position of border czar:
“He’ll be a border czar, he’ll be very much involved in the border, he’ll be reporting directly to me.”
Except Homan, who was quick to acknowledge his willingness to take on the enormous task of coordinating the various departments and agencies charged with securing our borders, said that he wanted President Trump to institute ‘structural changes’ before he’d agree to become the czar:
“I was first approached by [former Homeland Security] Secretary [Kirstjen] Nielsen about this job and I declined it because I didn’t think the job was structured right.”
“I didn’t think it had the proper authority. And look, I think a border czar needs to be structured in a way that they can coordinate activities from [Department of Homeland Security], [Department of Justice], [Department of Defense], [Health and Human Services] — they all have a piece of this border issue so I think any sort of border czar needs to be a person who can coordinate an all-in government response to the border.”
It was during an interview with Lou Dobbs earlier this week where Homan revealed the reason his wants full operational control over the border – he has no faith in acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan:
Dobbs: “Why are we not seeing an energetic removal of this under deportation orders, having gone through the immigration due process [with] a judge making the removal orders.”
Homan: “I have been pushing this for six months because I did this in fiscal year 2015 (when Obama was president).
“When you remove these groups we show the country’s deterrence. The numbers went down in FY ‘15. I know it works because I have done it…
… “The plan has been sitting with the acting secretary [McAleenan] for months.
It was during a segment of Fox and Friend, however, where Homan charged McAleenan with leaking plans for the upcoming deportation plans that ICE had been formulating:
After a discussion about the mayors of sanctuary cities telling those under deportation orders how to resist ICE, a clearly agitated Homan said:
“They aren’t the only ones resisting ICE. You’ve got the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security resisting what ICE is trying to do.
“In the Washington Post story [and] numerous media outlets, he does not support this operation…
“… Look, this story was leaked. They gave the locations of the cities, the day they were supposed to start, how many targets.
“This leak… only benefits one person [McAleenan] …
Homan, who has been in regular contact with President Trump, told the men and women of ICE that the president has their six.
McAleenan’s track record sucks. Trump is a result’\s oriented businessman. Between Homan and McAleenan, who do you think President Trump is going to choose to go forward with?
