(Qatar July 26th) WASHINGTON: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is downplaying any differences with high-profile progressive lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez…
…Pelosi told reporters that “I don’t think we have that many differences” despite some sharp words back and forth recently with “AOC,” as she’s referred to by her 4.9 million followers on Twitter.
“In our caucus we have our differences. Respect that instead of making a big issue of it,” Pelosi told reporters, displaying a little exasperation with the media’s fixation with their relationship. “We just had a meeting to clear the air.”
Elder Patriot – Yesterday, a week after their meeting, The Intercept reported that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, were parting company.
It appears that Speaker Pelosi is behind Chakrabarti’s departure as she attempts to reign in the heretofore uncontrollable political dynamo.
Chakrabarti is a far-left political activist/anarchit who previously served as director of organizing technology for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign.
After the Democrat establishment squashed the Sanders’ campaign, Chakrabarti and other Bernie Sanders campaign staff founded Brand New Congress.
Brand New Congress was a political action committee (PAC) created to support far-left congressional candidates in 2018 midterm elections.
By mid-2017, Chakrabarti left Brand New Congress to help found Justice Democrats, a left-wing PAC. Chakrabarti became the Executive Director.
Justice Democrats was founded to recruit radically progressive working-class – anarchist, socialist, communist – political candidates to challenge incumbent Democrats.
Candidates were chosen on their charisma and ability to project ideas… no matter how inane.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the only candidate of the 12 candidates sponsored by Justice Democrats to win an election.
BNC ran 30 candidates in 2018. Its candidates were rejected by voters in 29 races. Ociasio-Cortez was their only successful candidate.
Chakrabarti was the brains behind the previously unemployed bartender, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And now he is gone. Likely jettisoned under orders from Speaker Pelosi.
Pelosi recognizes Ocasio-Cortez’s immense political skills but cannot abide how quickly she’s run the party off the rails under Chakrabarti’s guidance. Many voters already see Ocasio-Cortez as a challenge to Pelosi.

The speaker is every bit as radical as her younger colleague but she also understands that to build a ruling nationwide coalition incrementalism is the only successful strategy.
With Chakrabarti gone Pelosi hopes to be able to harness AOC’s developing political skills in much the same way her former handler did, only in a manner acceptable to a much broader base.
If Pelosi is unsuccessful, 2020 will be a disaster for Pelosi’s ability to retain control of the House.
