ELDER PATRIOT – Milo Yiannopoulos makes people uncomfortable because he challenges their comfortable acceptance of normalcy bias. Conservatives became enamored with Milo after he was banned from speaking on many of the stops on his U.S. college tour.
The fact that Milo is gay only enhanced theed conservatives’ narrative that the left had grown intolerant and fascist. It has. But, so has the right.
Yiannopoulos was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at CPAC but has been “disinvited” after a questionable video was posted on social media that opened the door for critics to claim the Breitbart editor appeared to “advocate” for pedophilia.
“In the homosexual world, particularly, some of those relationships between younger boys and older men — the sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship — those relationships in which those older men help those young boys discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love and a reliable, sort of rock, where they can’t speak to their parents.”
Yiannopoulos issued an explanation that clarified his remarks. He even apologized but apparently it won’t be good enough for Matt Schlapp and the board of CPAC to re-issue an invitation to speak.
During the presidential campaign Republicans did nothing to silence the claims of pedophilia that swirled about both Clintons, Barack Obama and John Podesta. Why would they, the charges only served to improve their chances of electoral success?
Now, it’s the right that is denying Milo an opportunity to speak. Is it possible that the Milo’s willingness to tackle the subject of pedophilia strikes too close to home for many of the CPAC attendees, as well?
