Elder Patriot – Iconic conservative Rush Limbaugh used a segment of his show on Thursday to outline what he believes is Robert Mueller’s latest strategy to end the Trump presidency and preserve the swamp for his former accomplices:
“They want Trump gone. They want everybody and anything to do with Trump gone. They all do. Everybody at the State Department, everybody in this immediate FBI circle with Rosenstein, Murphy, and McKinnon, the Republican establishment community,

We are fortunate that Bob Mueller has accepted the role of Special Counsel in the Russia probe. He is a respected public servant.

Republican consultants, they want Trump gone. Mueller is the guy to do it. Mueller is carrying the water for the entire establishment in getting Trump gone. And they don’t care how they do it. And I think their objective is to ruin him.”
“Do you all remember during the early days of the campaign there was news that Trump, in a tax return something like 20 years ago, took a $900 million deduction that was granted and survived an audit by the IRS? Now, I forget the details. It had to do with losses that he had incurred in that year in building things. It was around 900 or $920 million deduction. I’ll never forget when it was reported because most people will never come close to ever having that in a lifetime, and to have a guy personally write that much off?”
“Anyway, I think Mueller wants that $920 million back. I think Mueller wants to prove that that was a faulty deduction. I think that they want to go back, they want to get Trump’s tax returns because they want to nullify that $900 million deduction, and then they want to collect 20 years of interest and penalties and wipe Trump out.
I agree with Rush that there is little in Mueller’s past (or, present) that supports calling Mueller a man of integrity but I also don’t think he is a vindictive fool.
Even if Mueller were to be successful where would that leave him? He’d be the hero of a criminal subset being shunned from political life and quickly approaching the twilight of his life.
There is no coming back from what began last night and from who and what are about to be exposed. If the dismissal of Andrew McCabe dominated media reporting last night then the earth will move when the big revelations of almost unthinkable corruption by formerly “highly-respected” leaders – elected and appointed – start becoming public shortly.
Why would a man like Mueller, who has no honor – even towards the thieves whose exploitation and depravity he was appointed to defend – hitch his wagon to the losing side?
Especially since the IRS had already approved of the $900MM write-off 23 years ago. And, even if the write-off was to be revisited and disallowed that wouldn’t be grounds for removal. Trump would still be president, one very pissed off president who could go scorched earth on the Dems and NeverTrump Republicans if he chose to.
No one every suggested that Mueller was stupid. Rats make deals when they’re offered one. The smart money say Mueller was offered an escape hatch and he took it.
