Judge Restores Jim Acosta’s Hard Press Pass But the Media Isn’t Even Telling You Half the Story

Elder Patriot – No matter how much the mainstream media leaves out of its reporting on a court ordering Jim Acosta’s hard press pass to be reinstated it is not the defeat for the president that the hate-Trump media purports it to be.

The court never considered Acosta and CNN’s First Amendment claim.

Instead it issued a 14-day Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) during which time President Trump and the White House press office will be called upon to develop rules that journalists must abide by before cause can be shown for their removal.

The rules will fulfill the courts requirement that Due Process be enforced.  In other words journalists must know what is required behavior and what behavior will not be tolerated in the future.

It was always highly unlikely that the court would consider the First Amendment claim since dozens of other journalists -including those from CNN and including Acosta – still had unfettered access to the WH briefings and Q and A’s.

Additionally, if Acosta prevailed on that argument what would prevent any other American who writes a daily blog from demanding the same access?

The fact is Acosta’s hard pass only meant he wasn’t required to apply for a new pass each day.

Regardless, President Trump accepted the ruling for what it was – that he had 14-days to to create universal standards of deportment that apply equally to every journalist who is granted access to the White House.

This removes any opportunity for Acosta, or future activist/journalist to claim bias for boorish, disruptive behavior.

As with everything this president does, he didn’t wait 14 days or even 1 day, he addressed it immediately:

Trump addressed a gathering of reporters in the Oval Office following the signing ceremony for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act.

Despite the importance of the matter at hand, the media immediately went on the attack questioning Trump over what they wanted to propagandize as a court defeat for the president.

President Trump was ready with answers:

“People have to behave.  If they don’t listen to the rules and regulations, we will end up back in court and we will win.  But more importantly, we’ll just leave and then you won’t be very happy because we do get good ratings.”

The last, a thinly veiled reminder that CNN’s ratings are abysmal and getting worse.

Asked what he meant by rules and regulations, Trump answered:

“Decorum. You can’t take three questions and four questions and just stand up and not sit down.  Decorum, you have to practice decorum.”

It’s a fair bet that it won’t be long after the 14-day TRO is lifted for Jim Acosta to get booted again.  This time with no recourse.
