Elder Patriot – During a debate last night with another Democrat who is challenging her for the California Senate seat she occupies, Dianne Feinstein declared that she favors reopening an investigation into allegation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Considering that Kavanaugh has been subjected to seven FBI background checks – two within the past year – one wonders what she expects to find.
During a visit with Sean Hannity last night, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham said:
It’s not funny, but in a way it is.
But here’s what I want every Democratic candidate in the Senate to be asked tomorrow. Do you agree with Dianne Feinstein?
If Democrats take control of the Senate, are you for reopening the Kavanaugh investigation? Are you for more humiliation, degrading treatment of this fine man, are you for continuing this debacle? Do you agree with Dianne Feinstein? If you get in charge of the Senate, Democrats he will go after Kavanaugh again.
I think every voter in all these Trump states that have Democratic senators needs to ask that question, are you with Dianne or not?
“If you’re running for the House as a Democrat, do you agree with the idea that the first thing you should do is impeach Kavanaugh? These answers tell you a lot about the person running. The American people are pleased that we got a good, conservative justice. They’re ready to move on.”
Regardless of how close the vote to confirm Kavanaugh may have been, the result was what the Framers envisioned when they crafted the Constitution as we discussed in an earlier article.
Feinstein’s obsession with removing Kavanaugh actually is worse than just a stupid partisan overplay. It’s a scary challenge to the separation of powers woven into the Constitution.
There exists no provision for harassing sitting Supreme Court Justices over partisan political difference. That is what a renewed investigation would be. In fact, the Framers provided for lifetime terms precisely to remove political considerations from influencing the Justices’ deliberations.
Graham, famously exploded against the Democrats’ shameless attempt to destroy Kavanaugh on personal grounds during the last day of the hearings:
He closed the interview with Hannity by warning Feinstein that if he becomes chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee:
“I promise you this, we’re going to investigate who betrayed Dr. Ford. I’m going to find out why her lawyers did not tell her that the committee would have gone to California to interview her in private, so she didn’t have to go through this. That’s what I’m going to investigate.”
