Opinion| Democrats obstructing President Trump’s efforts to build a wall, or a series of walls, to enhance security along our southern border, constantly refer to “experts” who say there’s no need for a wall and that “modern” technology would work better.
It’s past time for them to produce these experts. Democrats control the House which gives them the ability to televise such hearings to the world in order to discredit President Trump – something that is apparently their sole reason to exist.
They won’t do that because for Democrats, unproven innuendo and declarations are the only things necessary to energize the psychotic hatred of their voters. This is how shallow their party has become.
Yesterday we quoted Dr. Judith Reisman, a former principal investigator for the U.S. Department of Justice who has specific expertise in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Three days ago she wrote:
The trafficking of persons across the U.S. border for prostitution is estimated to be the third most significant source of revenue for organized crime syndicates, following the sale of drugs and firearms.
The U.S. State Department estimates that 14,500 to 17,500, or in some cases as many as 19,000, foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States each year.
“The U.S. Department of State (2005) estimated that 70 percent of all sex trafficked persons are trafficked from Mexico to the U.S., 50 percent of which are minors who are trafficked for prostitution.”
That’s more cases of children trafficked annually than American soldiers who have died in the Iraq War since its inception.
But that only accounts for child trafficking. According to the Epoch Times:
In fiscal 2018, almost 400,000 people were apprehended by Border Patrol after illegally crossing the border.
That only accounts for the illegal entrants (invaders) that were caught. How many weren’t? Law enforcement officers will tell you that by the time they apprehend a criminal they’ve usually committed a number of other crimes.
Only a fool or a liar would tell you the current system is working.
But, according to Reisman, the trafficking of children and adults is only third on the list of reasons for locking down the border.
Newly elected Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) testified that the volume of illegal immigrants is unsustainable in particular for Border Patrol, the U.S. education system, and for emergency rooms.
“We’re asking for about 234 miles of border wall. It’s extremely effective. And I know this from being somebody in the military—when we need to get places, barriers matter. They’re not easy to climb over. They’re not easy to dig under. They’re a mitigating factor, they’re a huge mitigating factor.”
Sheriff Andy Louderback of Jackson County, Texas, told the Epoch Times that the statistics support what law enforcement has been telling us for decades.
“From a law-enforcement perspective on this, we have declared and said many times over, that we have a massive problem on our southern border, on security, of national-security proportions.
“This is not manufactured and it’s not to be minimized. Is it significant enough to shut the government down? And the absolute truth is, yes.
When asked if the president had manufactured this crisis Louderback was adamant that he did not:
“Let me tell you what’s manufactured in this deal. And that’s metric tons of narcotics, and tons of people who are just being shipped into this country. That’s what’s manufactured, manufactured by the cartels.
“All of our states are affected by this. Every law-enforcement agency in this country is dealing with the effects of an unsecured border. It’s a very real, constant threat that we face every day.”
Louderback said walls play a vital part in securing a border:
“We’re faced with walls everywhere. They’re very effective because they work,” he said. ”They provide the solid piece of foundational strength for you to keep that area secure—whether it’s a prison, whether it’s trying to get into CIA headquarters.”
You want experts? The president has thousands of them.
It’s time for Democrats to bring forth their experts so we can elevate this conversation out of the political gutter.
