Elder Patriot – Any further proof that the Democrats have become the party dependent on dividing our country should no longer be necessary.
During President Trump’s State of the Union last night Nancy Pelosi was caught frowning following President Trump’s call for unity.
Trump recalled the political environment in the immediate aftermath of the shootings of Steve Scalise and others for no reason other than that they were Republicans:
“In the aftermath of that terrible shooting, we came together. Not as Republicans or Democrats, but as representatives of the people.
“But it is not enough only to come together in times of tragedy. Tonight, I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people.
“This is really the key. These were the people we were elected to serve.”
As the audience rose to applaud and the camera panned the room. Pelosi was caught sitting mute with a detached frown on her face. Watch the video below and see for yourself.
This wasn’t the only example of Democrats’ discontent at points in the speech when they should’ve been cheering.
When President Trump touted that the policies of his first year have resulted in Black unemployment dropping to the lowest level ever recorded, only one Black attendee could be seen unenthusiastically clapping. The other Blacks in attendance, that the camera found, were sitting with dour expressions on their pusses as though wondering how they were going to hold their coalition together to retain their power.
Trump has been breaking established political norms since he first announced his candidacy. His unique style may ruffle some feathers and may seem less than presidential but that is secondary to his growing list of accomplishments.
The president knows that as more Americans experience the benefits of a robust economy – better jobs, higher incomes, lower taxes – the less susceptible they will be to the politics of division.
The hate generated by race, gender, and class warfare is more easily fueled when there is increased competition for limited resources among these groups. President Trump’s plan from the beginning has been to take that off the table by increasing the prosperity of all Americans.
Therefore, the more successful Trump is the more successful Americans of all stripes will be.
And, the Democrats will be left promoting the only thing that can drag down our economy – an unending flood of illegal aliens whom, in the words of Bill Clinton during his own 1995 State of the Union address warned;
“The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants.
“The public services they use impose burdens on our taxpayers.
Since Clinton delivered that warning we have descended $18 trillion further into debt and wages have remained stagnant, driven down by the flood of low-skilled workers coming across our southern border.
Trump offered a compassionate approach to those illegal aliens who have built lives here but he also made it clear that if we don’t end the mass migration illegally entering our country, a return to economic prosperity will be impossible.
As the president said last night: Americans are dreamers too.
There’s only so long the Dems’ strategy of resistance can withstand the rising economic tide. It appears that Americans got that message loud and clear last night.
