Devin Nunes: Subpoenas Are “Ready to Go” When Republicans Take Back the House

Investigations conducted by Congressional committees amount to little more than dog and pony shows, where politicians do a lot of posturing and throwing red meat in the direction of their constituents, from which there are almost never any criminal referrals.

According to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), this time things may be different.

Nunes is the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee and if Republicans regain control of the House, he will ascend to the chairmanship and inherit all of the powers that come with that position.  That includes the power to issue subpoenas.

While that rarely guarantees subpoenas and criminal referrals with other committees, Nunes is not a whole lot like most of his peers.  He’s not one to go along to get along.

Nunes had been targeted by Democrats beginning early in the Trump presidency because he balked at the doctored intelligence he was privy to as a member of the Gang of Eight.  As a result he was recused from his leadership position for a period of time.

The three other Republicans briefed on the Russia hoax – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and Chairman of the corrupt Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) Richard Burr – all willingly accepted the bogus briefing to protect their political cronies.

Nunes stood alone.  Now, it appears he’s prepared to drop the hammer of justice on the Obama-era corruption that turned the intelligence community into a weapon to destroy President Trump and keep hidden its egregious illegal use to target Obama’s political enemies.

Nunes has been severely maligned… well beyond the normal political in fighting… and the Constitution has been so severely violated, that it’s believable when he says to expect some legal recriminations..

While speaking during an interview at CPAC this past week Nunes said:

“You can be sure of this, if we take the House in November, we have subpoenas ready to go that will continue going after these dirty cops.”

He continued:

“What they’re trying to do is a cover-up — they’re trying to cover up the fact that their party was involved in the biggest political scandal in modern U.S. history, where they fed disinformation, likely Russian disinformation from a campaign into the FBI and opened an investigation on the other campaign.”

Nunes was peeved because Democrats, who control the House and therefore the agenda, have refused to hold hearings on how to prevent future abuse of the FISA Court prior to the March 15th vote to reauthorize the secret spy court.

Democrats refuse to discuss the ways the FISC had been compromised because doing so would cast sunlight upon the Obama-era abuse of the court.

Nunes: “What they’re trying to do is a cover-up — they’re trying to cover up the fact that their party was involved in the biggest political scandal in modern U.S. history, where they fed disinformation, likely Russian disinformation from a campaign into the FBI and opened an investigation on the other campaign.

“They’re doing everything they can to not make reforms and that’s not going to be sufficient.”

Congressman Nunes has proven himself to be a rare breed in Washington… so far.  All of America, even those who are too stupid or selfish to realize it right now, are counting on Nunes right now.  Don’t bet against him.
