ELDER PATRIOT – If you want to know why our healthcare costs have more than doubled since Obama and the Democrats got control of it you have to look no farther than Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) for your answer.
Obamacare is a 2,700-page monstrosity that was written by every special interest lobby willing to ante up enough campaign contributions and emoluments to buy the right to include one or more clauses in the bill.
The only role Congress and the Senate played in it was to pass it and send it to Obama for his signature. They didn’t even read it as Nancy Pelosi acknowledged when she infamously said, “We have to pass the bill so that we can find out what’s in it.”
Whitehouse was one of those “too busy to read it” senators back then.
It should be no surprise to anyone why health insurance costs have more than doubled when you stop to consider that all of those “contributors” to authoring it are now reaping the benefit of their investments.
Obamacare is a mess. No honest person would call it anything other than that.
Americans are paying sky-high taxes and our treasury is still going between $500 billion and $1 trillion further into debt every year and almost all of it attributable to the costs of Obamacare. The failure of Obamacare is the single most important issue facing this country and it was predicted to be just that by those who did bother reading it back in 2010.
Against this backdrop you’d expect any proposal to help make healthcare affordable to be primary reading material for any legislator.
So when Senator Whitehouse appeared on CNN’s “New Day” this morning to discuss the Graham-Cassidy healthcare reform bill you’d think he’d have at least read the new bill so he would be able to discuss it intelligently. After all, it’s all of 20 pages!
After reciting Chuck Schumer’s approved talking points like a trained parrot, Alisyn Camerota asked Whitehouse, “Have you read the bill?”
Busted! After a pregnant pause (should I lie and say I did?) the venerated senator owned up that he just didn’t find the time, “I’ve seen reviews of it. I haven’t read the language of it.”
Really Sheldon? Aside from being briefed on talking points what do you do to earn the hard-earned money America’s taxpayers give to you? Sheldon Whitehouse who was either too busy and/or too intellectually lazy to read it.
