Tone deaf Republican turncoat Mitt Romney has acquiesced and announced his support for the investigation of Hunter Biden’s relationship with corrupt Ukrainian oil giant, Burisma Holdings.
(Politico) Sen. Mitt Romney will vote in favor of a subpoena seeking records about the work Joe Biden’s son Hunter did for the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, a spokeswoman for the Utah Republican said on Friday.
Romney’s decision comes after several days of expressing dismay over the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s investigation targeting the Bidens, even suggesting on Thursday that the panel shouldn’t even be looking into the issue.
But after securing certain commitments from the committee’s chairman, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Romney has decided to support the subpoena when the panel votes on it next Wednesday — all but ensuring it will be issued.
Unfortunately, in order to secure Romney’s support, Chairman Johnson had to make concessions likely meaning we may never hear about what the committee learns.
“Senator Romney has expressed his concerns to Chairman Johnson, who has confirmed that any interview of the witness would occur in a closed setting without a hearing or public spectacle,” Romney’s spokeswoman Liz Johnson said. “He will therefore vote to let the chairman proceed to obtain the documents that have been offered.”
Congressional committees are infamous for holding hearings after which no one is held accountable. Except for the political points that can be scored – by both sides – from incendiary soundbites, there is rarely if ever any criminal penalties.
Thanks to Mitt, we’re not likely to get any soundbites, either. What could he be hiding?
The refusal to make criminal referrals, allows the guilty politician to claim vindication. Recall Hillary Clinton bragging that she was the most investigated politician ever and they found her innocent.
The real story here, however, is Mitt Romney’s decision to pursue a subpoena after having voted to impeach President Trump on abuse of power for… asking for an investigation of Biden. This is rich.
Romney’s once promising political career, that saw his rise to the Republican Party’s presidential nominee, is now in shambles after a series of self-serving, and failed decisions.
Most notably, it appeared to many rank and file Republicans that he literally threw the 2012 election to a very beatable Barack Obama.
Then, when Donald Trump was in the process of saving conservatism and the Republican Party, Romney tried undermining Trump’s electoral chances by labeling Donald Trump a fraud and working against his election.
Perhaps Romney’s biggest mistake came when he voted to impeach his party’s sitting president, who had a 95% approval rating with Republican voters at the time.
It’s one thing to mismanage your own election, but it’s something else entirely when someone proves his political roadmap is a winning one and you refuse to (or can’t) recognize it.

Romney’s problem is twofold. He’s inauthentic and has made it obvious to the American people. Second, his political instincts are woeful.
Romney should be taking lessons from Donald Trump not attacking him.
