ELDER PATRIOT – When President Obama took the Oath of Office he swore that, “to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” He didn’t promise to protect only the parts of the Constitution that he agreed with. And he would certainly be breaking his oath of office by actively working to undermine any part of the Constitution.
Now a federal judge has ruled that the Obama administration must release over 20,000 pages of emails that reveal the intent of the Fast and Furious gunrunning operation.
Under the Fast and Furious program the Justice Department sold at least 2,000 assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels including an undetermined number of .50 caliber rifles.
The U.S. Army’s manual on urban combat emphasizes the .50 caliber sniper rifle’s ability to destroy materiel targets:
“These heavy sniper rifles were originally intended as anti materiel weapons for stand-off attack against high-value targets, such as radar control vans, missiles, parked aircraft, and bulk fuel and ammunition storage sites…It is their ability to shoot through all but the heaviest shielding material, and their devastating effects, that make them valuable psychological weapons.”
A preliminary reading of the newly released documents that the judge forcibly demanded be turned over revealed that the entire program was developed with the intention of ginning up a crisis that would move Americans towards accepting far more onerous limitations on their Second Amendment rights.
This should not come as a surprise to people who have been paying attention. Obama’s choice of Eric Holder as his Attorney General was revealing. In 1965, as U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Holder had called for “some kind of anti-violence, anti-gun message. Every day, every school, at every level … We need to do this every day of the week, and just really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way.”
There there’s the fact that while he was Obama’s Attorney General, Holder only prosecuted 0.1% of felons and fugitives who were identified by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System when they were attempting to buy guns. That’s not the work of someone who wants to use the existing gun laws to stop crime. It’s the strategy of someone who is inviting more crime in order to create a demand for more laws among the electorate.
It’s almost a certainty that Holder’s Fast and Furious campaign has resulted in more than the two-dozen murders that have been tied to these guns to date. For Obama, and his then Attorney General Eric Holder, these were simply dismissed as collateral damage in their war on guns.
Now comes Hillary Clinton who is promising us a third Obama term. Speaking in Iowa last summer she told us her strategy would be no different from Obama’s. “We have got to do something about gun violence in America – and I will take it on,” she pledged to reporters.
Hillary has been such an outspoken critic of the Second Amendment that the NRA felt compelled to give her an “F” rating. They note: “As Bill Clinton`s self-proclaimed co-president, and later as the junior U.S. senator from New York, she has been an outspoken radical activist for licensing and registration–and for all manner of gun bans. Meanwhile, she has vigorously opposed state Right-to-Carry laws.”
Last month during an MSNBC townhall Clinton told Rachel Maddow, I really support everything President Obama said he would do through regulation on guns but we’re going to start the very first day and tackle the gun lobby.”
“The Democrats have decided they will be led by Chuck Schumer and Chuck Schumer has been one of the most effective legislators in taking on the gun lobby. He and I worked together to get the Brady bill passed way back in my husband’s administration. So I think that it’s the kind of issue you have to start early, you have to work on it every day and we need to make it a voting issue.”
If that sounds a lot like Eric Holder that’s because it is a continuation of his “brainwashing” policy.
Our Founders warned us to beware of anyone seeking to lead us who would limit our access to guns. Thomas Jefferson explained the reasons in multiple correspondences with James Madison while discussing the need for the Second Amendment:
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”
– Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787
There’s a reason the NRA endorsed Donald Trump so early in this campaign. If you cherish your other freedoms you should too.
