White House Attorney Hits House Dems With Blistering Letter Rejecting “Baseless, Unconstitutional” Efforts to “Overturn The Results of the 2016 Election and to Influence the Election of 2020”

Elder Patriot  – Liberals’ heads are exploding tonight.

White House attorney Pat Cipollone sent a scathing 8-page letter to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and three committee chairmen, Adam Schiff (Intelligence), Eliot Engel (Foreign Affairs), and Elijah Cummings (Oversight and Reform) informing them that President Trump would not be participating in their fraudulent inquiry.

Noticeable by his absence is Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler where all impeachment inquiries normally reside.  He’s in Speaker Pelosi’s doghouse for badly bungling the first impeachment go round earlier this year.

There are also the statements Nadler made during the Clinton impeachment proceedings:

Nadler: “There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment supported by one of our major political parties and opposed by another.  Such an impeachment will produce divisiveness and bitterness in our politics for years to come and will call into question the very legitimacy of our political institutions.”

In Trump’s case there was no vote.  Speaker Pelosi unilaterally announced the inquiry and then proceeded to ride roughshod over the president’s fundamental Constitutional rights.

Cipollone’s letter cites one salient justification after the next for President Trump’s decision not to cooperate in any way.

Cipollone wrote: “you have denied the President the right to cross-examine witnesses, to call witnesses, to receive transcripts of testimony, to have access to evidence, to have counsel present, and many other basic rights guaranteed to all Americans.”

After eight glorious pages finally Cipollone dropped this legal bomb on the Stalinist Democrats:

Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it. Because participating in this inquiry under the current unconstitutional posture would inflict lasting institutional harm on the Executive Branch and lasting damage to the separation of powers, you have left the President no choice.  Consistent with the duties of the President of the United States, and in particular his obligation to preserve the rights of future occupants of his office, President Trump cannot permit his Administration to participate in this partisan inquiry under these circumstances.”
