Unlike John Lewis Clarence Thomas Eschews Racial Rhetoric Leads By Example

ELDER PATRIOT – While the mainstream establishment media has been fawning over the “bravery” of civil rights icon John Lewis for something he did 56 years ago – that was indeed heroic at that time – they have ignored the rest of the story that spans the past three decades.

After John Lewis’s heroism on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1961 in the fight for the civil rights of all Black Americans he became a race-baiting hack for the Democratic Party spending the past three decades as the duly elected Representative of Georgia’s 5thCongressional District.  He was chosen for that role because his bravery back in 1961 gave the mainstream establishment media great cover for anything Lewis claimed thereafter.

Lewis has been a great disappointment to the Blacks who have looked to him for help.  He was caught lying when he accused the Tea Party of shouting racial slurs at him.  While there is nothing new about politicians lying, Lewis’ record in helping the Black community is an abject failure and he should not be canonized for it.

Lewis has walked in lockstep with President Obama over the past eight years and the result for Blacks has been dismal.

Tavis Smiley is a black liberal commentator and advocate.  Hen asked by Megyn Kelly, “On the subject of race, are we better off today than seven years ago?”

Smiley’s response was incredibly disappointing but gave great insight into John Lewis’ failure as a leader: “On every leading economic issue, in the leading economic issues Black Americans have lost ground in every one of those leading categories”.

Lewis knows is job is similar to those that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson fill for the Democratic Party, keep Blacks on their urban plantations and deliver their votes.  Personally empowering Blacks would threaten the Dems’ grip on those communities.

Over the same three decades there is another story of successful black man that the media has chosen to ignore, or deride when is suits their black dependency narrative.

This is the story of a man who eschewed affirmative action programs so that his accomplishments wouldn’t later be tarnished by doubtful employers reviewing his resume sometime in the future.   He has led by example and not by rhetoric.

This man is Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who’s orginalist interpretation of the Constitution puts him at odds with liberals who prefer that their judges rewrite the laws that they don’t like rather than to properly interpret the law as it was written.

For joining the mainstream of American life Thomas has been branded an “Uncle Tom” by Democrats and black dissidents alike, and hasn’t been deemed worthy of recognition at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

But, Justice Thomas will be recognized this Friday when he breaks new ground as the first African-American Supreme Court justice to administer the oath of office to Vice President-elect Mike Pence.  The honor of administering the oath of office to the president-elect is reserved for the Chief Justice.

So while lying race-baiting John Lewis undermines the peaceful transition of power a true American role model, Clarence Thomas will continue his legacy of opening doors for blacks in the only manner he knows.  He will lead by example.
