Trump +2

ELDER PATRIOT – With sixteen days to go until the election voters have had time to digest, both, the personal attacks on Donald Trump’s character and, his promise to always put America first.  And, according to the tracking poll that has a history of providing the most accurate results, voters are choosing to ignore the Democrats’ usually successful practice of the politics of personal destruction in favor of an outsider who has campaigned on a platform of putting an end to the corrupt Washington establishment.

The accuracy of the polling techniques IBD/TIPP used to predict the outcome of the 2012 presidential election were confirmed by Nate Silver of the FiveThirtyEight blog. Silver is widely regarded by Democrats as their go-to man when it comes to analyzing the value of the many polls that are reported.

Silver had this assessment of the IBD/TIPP poll in 2012:

“Among the more prolific polling firms, the most accurate by this measure was TIPP, which conducted a national tracking poll for Investors’ Business Daily.”

Significantly, the poll finds that Trump’s lead has doubled since the debate.  This means that voters have had plenty of time to consider the attacks on Trump’s character and have come to terms with the fact that they are willing to accept his imperfections if that’s what it takes to see the corrupt D.C. cartel broken up.

Just as important is Trump’s 1-point lead in a head-to-head matchup.  This is indicative that as voters start abandoning third party candidates in the race’s closing days Trump is still positioned to win the election.

The poll’s results also show that Hillary Clinton’s much ballyhooed gender-gap advantage simply does not exist.  Trump leads among men by 14 points (48% to 34%) while trailing Mrs. Clinton with women by only 8 points (46% to 38%.)

With Trump having pivoted in his “Gettysburg Address” yesterday to announcing a list of 28 actions to uproot corruption and restore prosperity that he promises to enact within his first 100 days in office, he is playing into both his strength and the voters priorities according to this poll.

Conversely, Mrs. Clinton is still banging the drum that Trump is more obnoxious than she is.  It’s a strategy that this poll tells us is failing.  Perhaps that’s because voters don’t believe that anyone could be worse than she is.
