Pro-Trump Black Democrat Legislator Who Announced His Resignation After Tweeting That “I Have Left the Plantation” Reverses Course After Outpouring of Support

Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones, a lifelong Democrat announced his intention to continue supporting Donald Trump while remaining an active member of the Georgia Democratic caucus.

Jones’ announcement comes following a turbulent 9-days that began when he first announced his intention to support President Donald Trump for reelection.

The video has been disabled but Jones made his reasons clear when he said…

“Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation.

Any break of Black support that rises into double-digits represents an extinction level crisis for Democrats so…

… Georgia Democrats turned their statewide caucus against Jones in an attempt to force him into being silent.  And, it worked… for a while.

“Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation. Someone else can occupy that suite. Therefore, I intend not to complete my term effective April 22, 2020.”

That’s when the support for Jones began pouring in and the more support that Jones received… well…

“I am going to remain on the battlefield.  I’m going to complete my term.

I am going to continue to put my country before my party.  And, I am going to do everything I can to help Donald J. Trump reelected.”

Do not confuse Georgia legislator Jones with Michigan state legislator Karen Whitsett, also Black, who has been similarly targeted for defeat by her state’s Demcoratic caucus.

Michigan Democrats were apoplectic that State Representative Karen Whitsett credited President Trump for her coronavirus recovery after she was treated with hydroxychloroquine.

… extinction level crisis

No-one is allowed to leave the DNC plantation, ever!
