Ocasio-Cortez is That Stupid: Calls for Replacing Every Building in the U.S. in the Next 10 Years – Or We’ll All Die!

Elder Patriot – Ocasio-Cortez has been given a platform by the national mainstream media after a small group of New Yorkers sent her to Congress to represent them.

She has seized the opportunity to show that American people just how much of an economic illiterate a person with a degree from BU in economics can be.

Ocasio-Cortez has advanced a proposal for a “Green New Deal” that would direct the federal government to address “climate change” and, wait for it, “systemic injustice.”

Her plan calls for moving 100% of the country’s energy needs of our entire economy to “clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources,” in under 10 years.

The enormous cost of such an undertaking is only matched by the abject stupidity of the people behinds it.  Yes, I said people. As in Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and a number of other Congressional Democrats.

Yeah there’s that many congresspersons that want to be seen supporting this nonsense.  Scary, huh?

AOC’s plan contains proposals for 14 separate “infrastructure and industrial” projects intended to make the United States carbon neutral inside of 10 years.

AOC considers this timeframe to be absolutely necessary because, according to her, the world will be uninhabitable due to “climate change” by then.

This is gun-to-the-head politicking.  Do it or the kid gets it.

According to wording in the AOC-Markey plan:

“Every project strives to remove greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from every sector of our economy.”

One proposal calls for “upgrading or replacing every building in the U.S. for state-of-the-art energy efficiency.”  Seriously.  Tear them down and rebuild them.

The costs of just this one proposal are incalculable.

Another proposes “massively expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high-speed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.”

Seriously, these radical Dems are proposing displacing nearly 1 trillion U.S. air travelers and moving them onto high-speed trains.  Just one high-speed rail line in California – to connect LA and San Francisco – is now slated to cost $77 Billion.

Amtrak, lightly used by the average traveler, required $1.39 Billion in subsidies from federal taxpayers just to cover operating losses and fund capital projects.

Now calculate the costs to build rail projects on the scale that AOC is calling for.

The scope and expense of just these two proposals would both bankrupt the country and massively destroy the environment in the effort.  But, there are 12 more proposals.

Every demolition project, including renovation projects of significant scope such a AOC is proposing, must file a plan to dispose of the hazardous waste that results.  To attempt this on even a small fraction of the scope AOC is proposing would cause massive disruption to both our landfills, hazardous waste disposal sites, and quality of air (from demolition.)

Every building project similarly needs materials that require manufacturing processes that, right now, are almost entirely dependent on fossil fuels.

Batteries, an absolute necessity to make AOC’s proposal a reality, contain toxic compounds and have limited lives.  Where would we dispose of them. Just the manufacturing process required to make batteries generates significant levels of pollution.

All of this means that AOC’s “12 years to death” timeline might be cut in half by her brain-dead proposal.

Then there’s the fact that all of the manufacturing needs of the world will necessarily be met in countries whose environmental protections are nowhere near as stringent as those enforced by our EPA.

That will help reduce world pollution, right?

If this were a high school project she should get a failing grade.  This isn’t high school

Which makes us wonder who AOC actually represents because this plan is something a hostile foreign enemy would kill to see implemented here.

On the bright side, the government might collapse under the debt burden that results from all of her proposals before then so we may want to kill ourselves, if not from starvation then to escape the choking pollution that results from her poorly conceived ideas.
