Elder Patriot – Barack Obama’s legacy for un-Constitutional governance will be difficult or Donald Trump to erase even should he serve as president for all eight years.
That is because the federal judges that Obama appointed have little to no respect for the other branches of government. Instead they see themselves as activists in Obama’s continuing efforts to undermine our Constitutional government.
Because there exists almost no stomach among Republican lawmakers to impeach these judges they have been able to build roadblocks to stop President Trump’s efforts to enforce existing law, as is his duty under the Constitution.
Those refusing to consider impeachment would be the same open border Republicans who promise immigration curbs but never deliver after they were elected by the voters to do so. That is why their refusal to hold these rogue judges to account should come as no surprise.
This is especially true of the federal judges who have blocked President Trump’s Executive Orders on immigration that is completely legal under existing law. Perhaps this is why these Republicans approved Obama’s appointments in the first place and why they have been dragging their feet approving Trump’s appointments now.
This has garnered the attention of Attorney General Jeff Sessions who made it clear that he will not tolerate these self-appointed dictators blocking our Constitutional government much longer. In a speech to the Heritage Foundation Sessions railed against Obama’s judges who have blocked our president’s ability to protect our borders and by extension the people he represents.
“The Constitution gives judges no right to veto a president’s actions because they disagree with him on policy grounds.
“With respect: it is emphatically not the province or duty of courts to say whether a policy is compassionate. That is for the people and our elected representatives to decide. The court’s role is to say what the law is.
“A judge’s comments on policy like this are highly offensive, and disrespectful of the legislative and executive branches.
“Today, more and more judges are issuing these lawless nationwide injunctions and in effect, single judges are making themselves super-legislators for the entire United States. We have nearly 600 federal district judges in the United States—each with the ability to issue one of these overreaching nationwide orders.
“Those who ignore this duty and follow their own policy views erode the rule of law and create bad precedents and, importantly, undermine the public respect necessary for the courts to function properly.”
As Attorney General, Sessions is the head of the federal judiciary. For the sake of the Constitution’s Separation of Powers that these judges swore to uphold, these judges must cease in their resistance to President Trump and start doing their jobs or, if they persist, they should be impeached.
Otherwise, our only two elected branches of government will cease to have relevance.
