New White House Order to Enforce Century Old Immigration Law Sends Open Borders Advocates Into Panic

Elder Patriot – President Trump today issued a White House order to ensure non-citizens do not abuse our nation’s public benefits.  The immigration law has been in place for more than a century but began being ignored during the presidency of Bill Clinton.

President Trump is merely enforcing the rules that previous presidents chose to ignore for two-and-a-half decades:

Don’t like the law?  Change it. President Trump gave Congress ample opportunity to do that but they realized what they really wanted the law to be would’ve resulted in political suicide.

President Trump gave Congress every chance to join him in fixing the law while still protecting American workers and taxpayers but it became apparent that very few members of Congress had any intention of fixing our broken immigration system.

Instead, like the Chinese trade negotiators before them did, they walked out on negotiations with the president and his team, and hope that 2020 brings a change in presidents.

It’s likely President Trump had this move in his back pocket and was waiting for the right opportunity to announce it for maximum political benefit.

Voters are even more worried about illegal immigration and question the federal government’s commitment to stopping it…

…A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 73% of Likely U.S. Voters consider illegal immigration a serious problem in America…

Policy decisions don’t get much easier than this.

And, earlier this year…

Most voters continue to favor strongly controlled borders and reject House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s charge that it is immoral for the United States to build a border wall.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 53% of Likely U.S. Voters think it is better for the United States to tightly control who comes into the country.

“President Trump has once again delivered on his promise to the American people to enforce long-standing immigration law.”

No longer will economic migrants be able to game our system with phony asylum claims if they are deemed likely to become public charges, or dependent on social services, including welfare.

Immigrants will now be required to prove they are economically self-sufficient or they will be barred from entering the country.  Period.
