Elder Patriot’s Opinion| You can’t make this stuff up. Yesterday, Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden claimed U.S. taxpayers have an obligation to provide free healthcare to people who have entered our country illegally.
Biden, who served as Vice President for Barack Obama, the president who ran up trillions of dollars in debt to keep his failed national healthcare program afloat long enough to pass the problem onto his successor, is denying the economic realities, and distorting the moral imperatives, involved.
Exactly who is Biden appealing to?
Biden responded to a reporter who asked if illegals who are “law abiding” deserve federal benefits agreed with the ill-conceived suggestion during a campaign even in Los Angeles, yesterday.

Biden: “I think that anyone who is in a situation where they’re in need of health care, regardless of whether they are documented or undocumented, we have an obligation to see that they are cared for. That’s why I think we need more clinics around the country.”
Biden has a history of promoting the use of taxpayer monies for helping illegal entrants to our country.
During a 2014 speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. the then-vice president declared that the millions of illegals in the U.S. are already American citizens.
You know, the 11 million people living in the shadows, I believe they’re already American citizens. Teddy Roosevelt said it better, he said Americanism is not a question of birthplace or creed or a line of dissent. It’s a question of principles, idealism, and character.
The vice president had twisted the meaning of TR’s for his own purposes.
In his 1894 essay titled “True Americanism,” Roosevelt wrote:
Americanism is a question of spirit, conviction, and purpose, not of creed or birthplace. The politician who bids for the Irish or German vote, or the Irishman or German who votes as an Irishman or German, is despicable, for all citizens of this commonwealth should vote solely as Americans; but he is not a whit less despicable than the voter who votes against a good American, merely because that American happens to have been born in Ireland or Germany.
A review of Roosevelt’s essay reveals a position diametrically opposed to Biden’s. TR was fiercely opposed to multiculturalism in American culture and politics. Even back then, Roosevelt argued that assimilation of immigrants was vital to preserving national identity – Americanism.
Biden’s generosity with your money is well documented.
A review of Biden’s voting record shows that he routinely voted for legislation that increased foreign competition against American workers.
Biden has consistently voted to:
- increase legal immigration levels,
- in support of amnesty for all illegal aliens in the U.S.,
- increase the total number of foreign workers that businesses are allowed to hire in place of American citizens.
