Gloves Off: Pompeo Says Caravan Poses Unacceptable Security Risk. Kelly Gives Troops Approval to Use Lethal Force

Elder Patriot – President Trump took to Twitter to express his frustration in attempting to secure our southern border following the decision of an Obama-appointed activist judge who issued an injunction against Trump’s plan to deny asylum to what common sense tells us is an invading army:

The judge’s order, however, does not extend into Mexico and the president has declared his intentions to prevent, by any means necessary, the caravan of invaders from ever touching U.S. soil.

Here’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

“From a security standpoint there is no proper accounting of who these individuals in the caravan are and this poses an unacceptable security risk to the United States.”

“The United States also has a message for those who are currently part of this caravan or any caravan which follows; you will not not be successful at getting into the United States illegally, no matter what.

“I repeat, the caravan will not cross our southern border under any circumstances.”

It appears that President Trump anticipated the judge’s order, as well as the mainstream media’s rush to defend the mayhem that that order has facilitated, when he ordered the military deployment to the border.

As expected, NBC News attacked Trump on the absurd grounds that the military cannot be used to protect our borders:

“The Posse Comitatus Act keeps the President from using troops to enforce domestic policy. For all the obvious reasons,” Joyce White Vance, a former federal prosecutor and MSNBC contributor, wrote Wednesday on Twitter. “It was enacted in 1878. Only Trump would think to violate it & as all things with Trump, once you violate a norm, it’s a fast slide down the slippery slope.”

If the military can’t be used to defend our borders then why do we have a military?

The president’s detractors will be dismayed to learn that the Posse Comitatus Act also empowers the president “to use military force to suppress insurrection or to enforce federal authority.”

So be it.  Trump, and his cabinet, will abide by the judge’s order and prevent the invasion from ever becoming subject to the order because the invasion will never be allowed to step on American soil.

According to the Military Times:

The White House late Tuesday signed a memo allowing troops stationed at the border to engage in some law enforcement roles and use lethal force, if necessary …

The new “Cabinet order” was signed by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, not President Donald Trump. It allows “Department of Defense military personnel” to “perform those military protective activities that the Secretary of Defense determines are reasonably necessary” to protect border agents, including “a show or use of force (including lethal force, where necessary), crowd control, temporary detention. and cursory search.”

Kelly said in the directive that the move was necessary because “credible evidence and intelligence” suggest that the migrants in Tijuana “may prompt incidents of violence and disorder” that could threaten Border Patrol personnel.

Trump made it clear that it is his intention to let the military do its job and not impose rules of engagement that handcuffs its ability to carry out its missions like previous president’s have:

“If they have to, they’re gonna use lethal force.  I’ve — I’ve given the OK. If they have to. I hope they don’t have to.”
