What is the FBI Hiding? Refusal to Expedite Release of Info on Secret Comey-Obama Meeting Raises Integrity and Trust Concerns

ELDER PATRIOT – On Thursday the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) received a letter from the FBI denying their request for an expedited release of all records of meetings between former FBI Director James Comey and President Barack Obama.

The DCNF had filed the FOIA request with the FBI “seeking records that identify and describe all meetings between former FBI Director James Comey and President Barack Obama. This records request is for all meetings with President Obama alone or with meetings with the President in the company of other administration officials.”

The DCNF filing was in response to a previously undisclosed January 5th, 2017 meeting that Obama’s former National Security Advisor Susan Rice referenced in an email to herself that recently surfaced.  Both Comey and Obama had been present at that meeting.

Subsequent to that meeting Comey had told Congress that he had only met alone with President Obama on two occasions.  While that may yet prove to be true, the fact that he didn’t reveal other meetings with then president Obama, when given the opportunity to is troubling.

According to what was discussed at the other meetings it may be of no concern or of great concern to the American people.  That is what led to the DCNF’s FOIA request.

In that filing The DCNF requested records to include all Comey “logs, director appointment schedules, emails and memos outlining the meetings with the former President along with administration officials,” adding, the records “should list the date of the meeting, location, topic and meeting participants.”

The DCNF also sought the production of any relevant records to be provided in an expedited manner.

“The issue of Director Comey’s meetings with President Obama is a key troubling issue for Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley,” The DCNF wrote in its application for the expedited processing. The DCNF attached to Grassley-Graham letter to Rice in the FOIA request for expediting handling.

It is also a “key troubling issue” for many of President Trump’s supporters who have endured the FBI and DOJ’s savage attacks against their president and who now want answers as to why?

Instead the FBI has continued to stonewall both House and Senate committees investigating potential wrongdoing and illegalities.  And their denial to the DCNF is just more evidence of just how deep the swamp is.

The FBI’s response sent under the signature of David Hardy, the Section Chief for the bureau’s Record/Information Dissemination Section, to the DCNF claimed that such information is not “a matter of widespread and exceptional media interest in which there exists possible questions about the government’s integrity which affects public confidence.”

Au contraire, it’s an issue of massive importance to the sixty-plus million Americans who voted for Donald Trump, as well as for many who didn’t.

It is becoming evident that the FBI and the Department of Justice both acted improperly if not illegally.  If they have nothing to hide why wouldn’t they be in a rush to reaffirm their integrity and trustworthiness to the American people?  The longer both agencies obfuscate the deeper they prove the swamp to be.
