“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.”
– Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, October 10, 1787
ELDER PATRIOT – The Ar-15 does not threaten Americans. It threatens government.
America’s security debate following Sunday morning’s terror attack in Orlando should more properly be focused on the rise of radical Islam and the welcoming immigration program of future Jihadists that they both support than on a weapon that is significantly less dangerous than the AK-47 this administration supplied Mexican drug cartels with under it’s Fast and Furious program.
Obama and Clinton’s obsession with the AR-15 is a red herring. Last year there were slightly over 300 deaths by rifle in the United States. Exact statistics are not available with regard to the AR-15 specifically but we do know that large majority of those deaths are attributable to the use of shotguns and other long guns. Maybe the AR-15 was the weapon of choice in 100 deaths, with many being in self-defense.
That means there is one chance in 3,000,000 that you will be the victim of being shot by a person using an AR-15, less if you aren’t threatening them. That means you are at least 17 times more likely to starve to death if you live in the United States.
America’s AR-15 owners have proven themselves to be far more responsible and far less reactionary than the law enforcement agents that are supposed to protect us.
There are over four million AR-15s in the hands of Americans. Every time there is a terrorist attack Obama and Clinton call for banning them causing sales to spike. Significantly, the spike in ownership has never translated into an increase in the use of the AR-15 to create mayhem.
Obama and Clinton know that yet they persist in expending political capital in their ongoing drive to remove it from our society. But, if the AR-15 presents no significant threat to the American people why do they persist?
The AR-15 affords its users a fighting chance against invaders, foreign or domestic. The gun is designed to protect a perimeter defense. Bluntly, the AR-15 gives Americans a fighting chance against government should it overreach its authority and unleash the military against its own citizens.
As America slides down the World Freedom Index, Obama and Congress destroy our nation’s sovereignty and borrow us into incautious debt, many AR-15 owners believe that this weapon is the only thing standing between them and outright tyranny from a government that has become deaf to the peoples demands.
The obsessive manner in which President Obama and Hillary Clinton pursue stripping us of this weapon at every turn, given the relative inconsequence of the AR-15’s use in criminal activity, should scare every freedom loving American.
Their fanatical call for banning the AR-15 reveals more about how they believe we will view the entirety of their agenda than how dangerous they believe American AR-15 owners are to other Americans.
