Elder Patriot – While ESPN has devoted itself to slamming the policies of President Trump, the viewers of its Hispanic counterpart, ESPN Deportes, don’t appear to share the network’s leftwing bent.
MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff sat in on an ESPN Deportes call-in show expecting Hispanic callers who had voted for Trump to express regret one year later. Boy, was he in for a surprise.
Soboroff asked the audience and his host, “Are you still happy with the way that you voted and the way that he’s [Trump’s] doing?”
The host immediately answered, “Yes, especially in the economy. We are growing at 3.1 percent.”
Soboroff admitted that, “What surprised me most when I was here last time, so many of your listeners called in and said to me, ‘it doesn’t matter that I’m Latino, it doesn’t matter that Donald Trump has insulted so many members of my race.’ I wanna know, a year later, do people out there, do your listeners feel the same way?”
Then they opened the phone lines and the responses he got from the callers were not what he was expecting. One caller said, “I feel way, way, way better with this president than before he was president. I will vote for him again.”
Even when Soboroff steered the conversation to what is supposed to be the polarizing issue of DACA the caller explained that Trump hadn’t ended DACA it had expired. The caller noted that unlike Obama who unconstitutionally created DACA Trump was putting its fate where it should be, in the hands of Congress.
The female caller was unequivocal, “I voted for Donald Trump … and at this point in my life I am not sorry. I am very proud of Donald Trump to be my president.”
Maybe ESPN’s other channels’ decline, like that of the NFL, could be reversed if they listened to their fans rather than dictate their un-American diatribe to them.
