Donald Trump Has Proven He is the Citizen Politician Our Founders Envisioned

Opinion |If there’s only one thing that we can all agree on it’s that Donald Trump is a Washington outsider.  That’s exactly what our Founding Fathers wanted – citizen politicians who would come to government solely as a public servant, make an impact, and then leave to resume their previous lives.

What we have now are career politicians who amass tens of millions of dollars (in some cases a $100 million or more) of net worth while earning less than $200,000 per year.

If they’re that great at investing why haven’t they shared that wisdom with the rest of us.  Instead they have driven our country $22 Trillion into debt and left Social Security and Medicare insolvent.

Whether you love Trump or hate him, you cannot deny that he is that citizen politician who used his own money to defeat the two-party system after conducting a hostile takeover of the Republican Party.

Somewhere, George Washington, the Father of our nation, is applauding Donald Trump.

During his farewell address, Washington warned about the enmity that would result if our government devolved into a two-party system:

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”

Trump has actually faced something even worse than the two-party system that so concerned President Washington.

Trump was faced with an emerging UniParty, intent on enriching its members and patrons while creating an illusion of choice that doesn’t actually exist.

To maintain that illusion, only Democrats openly – very openly – resisted his every move.  But, make no mistake, Republicans’ tepid defense of Trump (oftimes Trump hasn’t even received that) was meant to preserve the UniParty construct until Trump left office.

Trump very well knew what he was taking on when he announced his candidacy.  Only days before the 2016 election he made clear what his intentions were towards the global financial cabal that owned our corrupt politicians:

In January 2017, when Trump spoke these words at his inauguration, the mainstream media called it a ‘dark vision’ of America:

“…today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.

“Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs, and while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

“That all changes starting right here and right now, because this moment is your moment. It belongs to you. It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America. This is your day, this is your celebration, and this, the United States of America, is your country.

“What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. Jan. 20, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.”

Now, two-and-a-half years later, President Trump’s dismantling of that corrupt financial cabal, along with his other accomplishments on behalf of every American, has shown what one man, unencumbered by party allegiances can accomplish.

Imagine if every Representative and Senator were as independent as Donald Trump is.

The people who trusted Trump with their votes in 2016, along with many converts who didn’t, congregated last night for Trump’s 2020 campaign kick-off in Orlando, Florida.

It was a love fest between the people who had been lied to by every previous president since Ronald Reagan left Washington, and President Trump who has actually delivered what he promised, and against a much more organized and infinitely better funded opposition than ever confronted Reagan.

Trump has never veered from the promises he made and last night he promised never to do so.

Last night, Trump repeated his promise from the latter days of his candidacy and the first day of his presidency:

“My Only Special Interest is You!”

The fact that he now has a track record to prove that statement will make President Trump unstoppable in 2020.
